Mary Beth Chalk - Healthcare Consultant
Chalk & Associates LLC is an Austin, Texas based consulting group dedicated to creating competitive innovation in health care. Mary Beth Chalk has over 20 years of broad healthcare stakeholder experience in mental/behavioral health; pharmaceuticals; hospital systems, and physician practice groups. As a healthcare consultant, demand for her services continues to grow.

Her work has included creating business strategy and business model innovation, designing new health behavior services and programs, creating and leveraging business alliances, visualizing and implementing data-driven decision support systems, establishing next generation products and services, ensuring customer retention, and achieving operational innovation and efficiencies. She has developed and led projects in the self-insured, Medicaid and Medicare environments.

Prior to establishing Chalk & Associates, she was a Director of Business Development for Pfizer Health Solutions (PHS). In her role, she supported PHS's efforts to identify, model and develop new projects, strategic partnerships and alliances resulting in improved healthcare outcomes. Prior to joining PHS, she served for over seven years as the Chief Operating Officer for Resources For Living where she led the initiative to create and validate an outcomes-informed mental health treatment model. Prior to Resources For Living, she was a Vice President and Senior Consultant with Executive Learning Inc. where she worked for over six years with large hospitals and physician practice groups in the areas of clinical value engineering and outcomes improvement.

Mary Beth was a founding board member of the National Business Group on Health's (NBGH) National Institute on Health, Productivity and Human Capital where she chaired the task force to develop the strategic plan for EMPAQ®, a nationally standardized benefits scorecard for employers. In addition to the Institute, she has served on the National Committee on Employer Sponsored Behavioral Health Services that produced "An Employer's Guide to Behavioral Health Services" and the Employee Assistance Workgroup that produced the NBGH publication, "Employer's Guide to Employee Assistance Programs". She is currently a board member of the National Institute on Mental Health. In addition, she serves on several advisory boards for health care start-up companies. She is a 2000 alumna of Texas Leadership and has served on the Texas Mental Health Policy Task Force.

Mary Beth describes herself as a visionary 'architect' - someone who can articulate a market need, visualize and create a viable design, create a plan, and provide the leadership and oversight necessary for implementation. This has enabled the organizations she has led and worked for as an employee and healthcare consultant to achieve competitive innovation.
